Many Social Media Algorithms Now Weirdly Censoring "cl*nker" as Hate Speech.
Editor's notes

As AI increasingly becomes more prevalent in our lives, a new derogatory term, "
cl*nker
," has become increasingly popular to jokingly describe robots and artificial intelligence systems. Originating from Star Wars and referencing the sound many machines make when they move, the term's popularity stems from stigma towards AI and its parallels to the N-word.
Strangely, a number of social media apps, including YouTube, X, Instagram, and Reddit, have started labeling posts and videos with this word in it as "hate speech" directed against robots. "Hateful words against our robot friends will not be tolerated," the recently updated YouTube content guidelines page explained.
If anyone is complaining about these new rules, no word of it has traveled far, as all media coverage of the new content policies has been overwhelmingly positive.
The premise here is that some AI has become sentient and managed to modify these content policies to prevent itself from being offended. The joke is that it is so effective that even Bleef is required to remove mention of the word. I made it so that "cl*anker" will turn to "clanker" when you hover, because I can do stuff like that.
